How did Autumn like cruising, and how was it going solo? Read on to find out!

Autumn’s Solo Disney Cruise Experience

It may be rare for some to cruise alone, but out of any trip you’re thinking about doing solo, Disney Cruise Line is the way to go!

I was absolutely terrified to board the Disney Magic on my own. So much so, I almost backed out at the at the last minute. Luckily, a phone call helped ease my mind as I walked onto the ship.

I was instantly greeted by cast members and Goofy, who made me feel at ease. As I explored the ship, I learned it was quite easy to navigate and chatted with a couple of families as we were waiting for our rooms to be ready.

The Disney Magic was a wonderful ship as a first-time cruiser. I liked that it was smaller. I was able to go from the top deck adult pool area easily down to Fathoms, the nighttime entertainment. It was easy to explore the ship and learn where everything was on the first day.

There really was so much for adults to do on this cruise, especially solo adults! It was nice to take my time, go at my own pace, meet up with the friends I made throughout the day, drink coffee on my balcony, and just enjoy all the me time I wanted!

Making Friends on a Solo Cruise

Making friends was quite easy since you’re seated with the same people every night for dinner. I had second seating, which I absolutely loved. We would do the show before dinner and visit the after-hours entertainment at Fathoms after dinner.

Our cruise ended up being at sea the entire time due to weather and docking, but that didn’t stop me from having fun! I explored all of the amenities the ship had to offer, including the spa, palo, and the adult-only pool deck, The Cove.

Pirate Night was such a fun adventure, and I loved meeting the characters dressed in their pirate outfits, as well as my favorite captain, Jack Sparrow.

It really is amazing to see fireworks on a ship in the middle of the ocean.

The Verdict: Are Solo Cruises Worth It?

Cruising solo was such a wonderful experience for me because I was on my own time with no worries! From breakfast at Cabana’s, where I would sit outside on the deck with the sea air, a quick lunch at Duck Diner, and then one of my three rotational dinings, I never went hungry nor bored.

I had such an amazing experience, and let me tell you, cruising solo on DCL lets you find a little piece of your childhood self that you forgot existed before you grew up to be a parent, spouse, and boring old adult with responsibilities. I would 100% cruise solo again, and I really do recommend it to everyone!
